Two days and two posts about monkeys??
Last night we were invited to the opening of SPANK THE MONKEY - The exhibition was the first serious international examination of urban and suburban art bridging the gap between the street and the traditional art space. With strong links to graphic design, graffiti, manga comics, skateboarding and surfing this group show includes artists based in urban centres across the world.
Spank the Monkey presents twenty-two artists from urban centres across the world. Including: Chiho Aoshima, Banksy, Dzine, Dr. Lakra, FAILE, Freaks Gallery, Shepard Fairey, Groovisions, Invader, Kozyndan, Barry Mcgee, Ryan Mcginness, Takashi Murakami, Miss Van, Neasden Control Centre, Os Gemeos, David Shrigley, Natasha Struchkova, Swoon, Aya Takano, Ed Templeton,Yasumasa Yonehara.
A good night was had by all! There was a load of homies in attendance - Kev (Mischief team rider, dude in the helmet), Bing (Mischief Skate Store, with the beer), Andy (Psyche, yellow tee, camo jacket), Simon (Obey, white shirt), Paul (Hype Type Studio, behind me on the phone), Sam (FUSS, my brother, in the cracked out TV room) and a load of others who are not pictured.
